Book Writting Ltd

Adverts Policy

Effective: 2026
Applies to: paid and complimentary placements on bookwritting.com, including the Adverts page, Book Clubs, book pages and related storefront surfaces

This Adverts Policy (“Policy”) is the house style for advertising on Book Writting Ltd (“Book Writting”, “we”, “us”, “our”). It is written for a book business: authors promoting a title, publishers buying space, and book-related firms who want to be seen by readers — not for generic display networks.

By submitting an advert at bookwritting.com/advertise, paying for a placement, or asking us to run a campaign, you agree to this Policy, our Terms, Refunds & Returns and Data Protection Policy.

1. Two kinds of promotion

Do not confuse them.

  • Standalone adverts — creative you submit for review. Anyone may apply, including people without an author account. After we approve the creative, you pay, and the placement runs for the booked period (usually two weeks). When that period ends the advert is taken down. It does not keep a book in the catalogue by itself.
  • Catalogue book promotions — Featured, Promoted or Sponsored boosts an approved author buys from the author dashboard for a title already (or about to be) on the store. The book can remain on sale after the boost ends.

Both are advertising. Both must follow this Policy. Prices and durations shown at checkout or on the Advertise page are the commercial terms for that booking unless we confirm otherwise in writing.

2. Current placement guide

Guide prices (USD, or the equivalent we display at the time of booking). We may change them; the figure you accept at payment is the one that applies to that run.

  • Basic advert — listed on the Adverts page. From $15 for about 14 days.
  • Featured — book pages, Book Clubs sidebar, event and meetup pages. From $20 for about 14 days.
  • Promoted — ranking boost so more readers see a title across the store. From $25 for about 14 days.
  • Sponsored — appears in the Book Clubs feed with a Sponsored badge. From $30 for about 14 days.

A booking is inventory on a literary site, not a guarantee of a number of clicks, sales or reviews.

3. How a standalone advert goes live

  1. You submit headline, placement, optional image, description, and a destination link (or a book on your account).
  2. Our team reviews it. We may approve, reject, or ask for a change. We do not have to give a long reason, but we will not take payment for a creative we have refused.
  3. If approved, you pay the stated fee.
  4. The run starts when we mark it live and ends when the booked period expires, unless we pause it under this Policy.

Guests may advertise with a name and email. Authors may also point the advert at one of their titles. Submission is not publication.

4. What we will not run

Book Writting is a catalogue for readers, including in public Book Clubs. We refuse or take down advertising that, in our judgement:

  • is unlawful in the United Kingdom, or would make us a party to a crime or a civil wrong;
  • is misleading about price, format (ebook vs print vs audio), authorship, reviews, bestseller status, or what happens after the click;
  • uses another author’s name, cover, ISBN or likeness as if the work were yours;
  • promises a government grant, “guaranteed Amazon rank”, or a publishing outcome we do not sell;
  • contains malware, forced downloads, cryptocurrency schemes, payday lending, weapons, tobacco, or non-book adult webcam or escort services;
  • directs a general-audience placement to sexual content that belongs only in Adult books after an 18+ confirmation — adult titles are not advertised on the open catalogue or in Book Clubs;
  • attacks a protected group, or exists mainly to harass a named person;
  • is indistinguishable from editorial content without a clear advertising mark;
  • infringes copyright, trade mark or privacy;
  • uses stock or AI imagery you do not have the right to use in advertising.

We follow the spirit of the UK CAP Code and ASA practice for publisher-sold inventory: advertising must be obviously advertising, fair, and not harmful to children. Book Clubs and the public ebook list are treated as general audience unless we say otherwise.

5. Labelling and editorial independence

Sponsored items in Book Clubs carry a Sponsored (or equivalent) badge. Other paid units sit on the Adverts page or in labelled slots. A paid placement is not a review, an award, or an endorsement by Book Writting Ltd. Our editors, if any, are not obliged to mention your title because you bought space.

You must not write fake “reader reviews” of your own advertised book in Book Clubs as a substitute for a paid unit, and you must not incentivise reviews in a way UK advertising rules forbid.

6. Creative, claims and landing pages

You own or have a licence for every word, cover and photograph you upload. Destination pages must match the promise in the advert, load without a bait-and-switch, and not install software the reader did not ask for.

If you cite a prize, chart position or endorsement, you must be able to show it is current and true. “International bestseller” without a defined chart is a claim we may cut.

Health, legal or financial how-to books may advertise the book. They may not advertise personalised medical, legal or investment advice as if Book Writting were giving it.

7. Adult, religious and political advertising

Sexual content is not sold or advertised on the public storefront. Do not use an advert to circumvent the Adult books gate.

We may refuse political campaign ads, hate campaigns, and ads that use scripture or faith solely to attack another faith. Devotional and academic religious titles may be advertised like any other book if they meet section 4.

8. Payment, pause and refunds

Fees are for the inventory window, not for a sales result. In line with our Refunds & Returns Policy:

  • if you cancel before the placement has started, we refund the unused fee or do not take the charge;
  • once a placement is live, that run is not refundable if you later pause the book, dislike the click-through, or unpublish the title;
  • if we reject the creative, you should not be charged for that booking;
  • if we take a placement down for a breach of this Policy, we may keep the fee for the inventory we had reserved;
  • if we fail to run a paid booking for reasons on our side, we will rerun it or refund that unused fee.

9. Our right to edit, position and refuse

We may place your unit among other ads, house messages and editorial modules. We do not sell “only slot on the homepage” unless a separate written insertion order says so.

We may refuse any advert, any advertiser, and any category of book business, including a competitor of a service we sell. We may require a change of headline or image. We may suspend a live unit immediately if we receive a credible complaint, a rights claim, or a security report.

10. Data and measurement

We may count impressions and clicks for operations and billing. We do not sell you a reader’s name, reading list or Adult books status. You must not drop a tracking pixel or fingerprinting script on our pages without a written agreement that meets our Data Protection Policy and Cookie Policy.

Affiliate links are a different product — see the Affiliates page. Buying an advert does not enrol you as an affiliate.

11. Liability

You indemnify Book Writting Ltd against claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your advert, your landing page, or your infringement of a third party’s rights, to the extent the law of England and Wales allows. We are not liable for loss of expected royalties because an advert under-performed.

12. How to book or complain

Book a unit: Advertise with us. See live units: Adverts.

Complaints about an advert on our site: Contact or hello@bookwritting.com with the headline, the URL and why it breaks this Policy. We aim to look at complete complaints within five working days.
